Many power amplifier variants have been developed to meet specific system constraints. The principal applications have sonar in common but differ widely in terms of frequency (1Hz to 10MHz), power (100mW to 1kW), and configuration (switching/linear). In a number of applications special consideration to power conservation and efficiency has necessitated rapid power up/down control between pulse transmissions and trickle-charged local energy storage. |
